For the avoidance of doubt, the following policies also apply to live streaming of games/training.
1. General Principles:
New Beckenham Cricket Club recognises that parents and carers have the right to take pictures of their children playing cricket. However, the Club also acknowledges the need to safeguard children and their personal data. Therefore, the following guidelines must be followed:
- All photographs and videos must be taken appropriately, respecting the privacy and dignity of children.
- All children/parents/carers must be informed that photographs and videos will be taken and given the opportunity to withhold consent.
- All personal data must be processed in accordance with GDPR principles and other relevant legislation and guidance.
- The Club must be vigilant about inappropriate photography or filming and must report any concerns to a Club official or event organizer.
- The name and picture of a child should not appear together to protect their privacy and safety.
- Parents/carers must ALWAYS be offered the opportunity to withhold consent for photographs/filming of their child.
2. Photography and Filming during Matches and Training:
The following guidelines apply to the use of cameras during matches, training sessions, and other Club occasions:
- Photographs and images must not be taken without the prior permission of the parents/carers of the child. This permission can be given by proxy by the Coach of each team only after parental consent for this has been granted. The Coach must arrange this prior to attending matches
- If no consent has been given for a child, the relevant person of the other team must be informed to avoid taking photographs of that particular child.
- Children must be informed that photographs will be taken and given the opportunity to raise concerns to the Coach or Team Manager.
- Concerns regarding inappropriate or intrusive photography must be reported to the Club Welfare Officer and recorded in the same manner as any other child protection or safeguarding concern
3. Publishing Images of Children:
The following guidelines apply to the use of images of children (for example, on the web, in the media, or in league handbooks), including broadcast on social media platforms:
- Parental and child consent must be obtained before using the child's image and, wherever possible, show the image to the parents and child in advance. This ensures that they are aware of the way the image will be used to represent cricket and the Club.
- If the cricketer is named, the photograph must be avoided.
- Only images of children in appropriate kit must be used.
- Inappropriate use of images should be reported to the Club’s Welfare Officer.
4. Using Video as a Coaching Aid:
The following guidelines apply to the use of video as a coaching aid:
- Parents/carers and children must provide written consent for the use of photography and video analysis.
- The material taken in connection with coaching must be stored securely and deleted or destroyed when a parent requests this or when the material is no longer needed.
- Players and parents/carers must be made aware that video equipment is used as part of the coaching program.
By following these guidelines, New Beckenham Cricket Club ensures that all children can participate in cricket in a safe and appropriate environment.
